Excellent paper; especially the conclusion. As I am old and I am only one, there is little I can do to save the world from this mistake. But, I am ONE and I will not cease in speaking TRUTH to anyone within hearing distance.
Excellent essay. My heart aches for this country and the shadow I see spreading across the world. We, I must stand for truth, and speak no lies. Thank you for writing this.
Thank you for this. That moment of “We, I” says everything. We each have to carry the torch, even when it feels heavy. I'm grateful to be standing beside people like you.
Easily the most precise, cogent and understandable summary of the current global assault on liberty. WELL DONE! I will share as far as I can, though I fear we are the underdogs in this fight for objective truth and freedom.
Thank you. Your encouragement means a lot. We may be the underdogs, but truth has a way of enduring when it's spoken clearly and bravely. Sharing the truth may yet carry the day, as I think once people see it they can’t unsee it.
Over my career I had to purchase medical malpractice insurance that totaled more than $2.5 million, for potential injury that could be fairly minor or mistakes leading to death.
There is no question that The Left practices verbal malpractice that reaches potentially millions, which can be and has been extremely harmful, that may cause someone to lose a lot of money, or can drive someone to despair and even suicide. It has happened. This never happened to me while in medical practice. Insurance could make a ton of money if it were required that all in the media were to pay hefty sums like I have to get and to maintain malpractice insurance.
Sure, we have freedom of speech, but it’s not helpful when it causes financial loss and leads to physical harm; at the least it is a civil attack on anther person that may have severe consequences, and civil suits should be brought.
Thank you for this excellent comment, and especially for drawing the comparison to medical malpractice. That parallel is powerful. When misstatements in medicine can cause harm, liability is expected. But when misstatements in media do the same, on a far larger scale, they hide behind "freedom of speech" without accountability. The problem isn’t free speech; it’s consequence-free distortion under the guise of journalism or activism.
What we need is not censorship, but consequence. If individuals or institutions knowingly repeat falsehoods that destroy lives, there should be a path to justice, just as there is in your profession. That’s the line between liberty and license.
Thank you again, and thank you for your years of work in a field where the cost of error is real.
yes yes yes to all of this
